Hotel workflow guide

Housekeeping & Room Readiness

This guide keeps cleaning work and front-desk room status in step, so a room is only given to the next guest once it is ready. Use it to set a shared routine between reception and housekeeping.

Before you start

  • Rooms are set up with their current status
  • Housekeeping staff have accounts with the right permissions
  • The day’s departures and arrivals are known

Step by step

  1. 1

    Review room status

Use the room board to identify occupied rooms, vacant rooms and rooms unavailable for use.

  2. 2

    Organise the work

Create and assign housekeeping tasks for the rooms that need attention.

  3. 3

    Update progress

Record task transitions and room housekeeping status as work progresses.

  4. 4

    Check readiness

Review the updated room status before allocating a room to the next arrival.

Tips from the front desk

Start with departures

Rooms with guests leaving today usually need cleaning first so they are ready for arrivals.

Update as you go

Update the task status as each room is finished, not at the end of the shift.

Check before allocating

The front desk should check room status again just before assigning a room.
